Inspired by grandma

My husband and i recently visited grandma - what an inspiration! Grandmother Gshwend is 85 years old and still living life to its fullest. She loves her hobbies and has a weekly appointment with a friend to paint table cloths. What inspired me most was the fact that she knits bunnies in her spare time (yes, at 85 she refers to her spare time) and sponsors the small animals to a child care home.
I asked her to knit me a red bunny and guess what's sitting on a bookshelf in my office?....just have a look at the end result...so special and inspirational! IS THIS CUTE OR WHAT?

Going back to school @Tierlantynkies
We had a great time at the April 2013 Tierlantynkies.
Mill'k went with a vintage school theme and this included our 580 hanging pencil roof…yes, we drilled a whole through each pencil :)
Don’t fret! The pencils won’t go to waste. They will be sponsored to a Mamelodi primary school where one of our employees’ children attend.
We had such fun and thank the tierlantynkie team for once again hosting an awesome market!

Moustache season @ mill'k
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of
moustaches on thousands of men’s faces around the world. The aim of which is to
raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Mill'k decided to join this initiative. Our very own hus haas, melk man en melk vrou and kewpie decided to grow a moustache of their own.
Movember brooches are available for the women and children (and some men) who are unable to join in this Movember's festivities.
Send us a mail @ riesa.steyn@gmail.com to order your very own Movember brooch @ R45 each (wholesale prices available)

pick me! pick me!
If you have ever visited our website (www.millk.co.za) you would have noticed our landing page...
Scroll around with the mouse pointer and you will see the animals reacting!
This reminded me of the SHREK movie and the famous quote of donkey..."pick me! pick me!"
Shrek: Does anyone know where this Farquaad guy is?
[Donkey jumps up and down, shouting out like a young child]
Donkey: Oh, I know! I know where he is!
Shrek: Does anyone ELSE know where to find him?
Donkey: Pick me! Pick me! Me! Me!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CIcHXgY0KKo
This got us thinking, so we got creative!!!
We introduce to you our very own DONKEY!!!
Hope it makes you smile!

Kewpies @ Millk
What is the “Kewpie
doll” ? ….yes Kewpie with a “K”
![]() |
| Millk Kewpies...pop a mail to order... |
The name is
derived from “cupid”, the Roman god of beauty, and is based on the comic strip-like
illustrations of Rose O’Neill which appeared
in the Ladies’ Home Journal in 1909 (more than 100 years ago). Paper cutouts (from
both the front- and back side..hehe) of the dolls were printed in this Journal,
and so the journey began.
Rose O’Neil
once said: “Cupid gets you into trouble
and the Kewpies get you out, always searching out ways to make the world better
and funnier.”
This is why
Kewpie dolls are one of the most unique dolls that have been created (Barbie
might be heavy competition).
Kewpie has
the sneaky looking side glancing eyes and the quaint little smile that leaves people
wondering what’s going through that Kewpie’s head. Maybe it’s a smile of
victory from enduring time!
I leave you
with the true words from the creator of Kewpie –
“Do good deeds in a funny way. The
world needs to laugh or at least smile more than it does”-Rose O’Neil
